West Architects, Inc. is a full service architectural firm located in Portland, Oregon specializing in making architecture accessible to all and strategically solving problems using the built environment creating places of significance for our clients and users. We are a hands-on firm and client focused specializing in empowering owners to exceed their needs. We have the immense privileged of continued relationships with our clients who depend on our professionalism and forward thinking design to increase the value of their ideas and real property. The company is 100% U.S. military veteran owned and we draw a great deal of resources from young aspiring practitioners along side seasoned professionals to deliver our superior services. After all, architecture is a service above all else and on many levels.

We are interested in the genuine analysis of specific project needs and responsibilities and deploying technology with an unwavering optimism in exemplary execution of ideas in the built environment to achieve our clients and users’ needs. The firm is committed to setting the example of service in the industry and to bettering the profession using several points of intervention and involvement. We are technology obsessed, but we obsess over the "Right technology for the job." We are aggressive in sustainability, but not for the sake of the word. We always ask, "What are we sustaining first." and the answers vary.

Josef M. West, AIA, NCARB is the president of the firm which he started in Los Angeles on Veteran's Day in 2013 and has over 15 years of experience in the architecture and development community. Graduated B.Arch from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in 2008. Joe is an professional architect and artist and has worked with noted architects such as John J. Silber and Jay Vanos in California, on projects ranging from high-end custom residential, large mixed-use affordable housing and high performance industrial. His artistic works have been used in conjunction with built architectural projects to augment marketing and experiential performance proving beneficial to property owners and users alike. Joe is licensed/registered as a professional architect in several states in the U.S. and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His practice is credited with service in a pro bono capacity to homeless support agencies in the U.S. and has spent time studying poverty and it's relationship with architecture and NGO systems in India.
